Kam For Sud isn’t an NGO “to help the poors”, but rather a group of Swiss and Nepalese friends working together for a better world, an association working in a joyful, yet serious and professional way to increase the “planet’s gross happiness”.

Having observed around us the failure of many initiatives, altough created with the best intentions but not sufficiently rooted in local realities, Kam For Sud has come to the conclusion that a cooperation project can succeed only if it is based on deep mutual respect among those involved. This means equal dignity and same value of the people, different background experiences but the same consideration for all and the same passionated involvemnt of everyone. No sense of superiority, no matter how hidden, from those bringing financial resources and technology, no sense of dependence or inferiority for those who are materially poorer— also because it is obviously not the material poverty that makes people unhappier…
A daily contact between Switzerland and Nepal
To make sure the projects progress smoothly, Rajan Shrestha, local projects coordinator, woorks full time in Nepal supported by Saroj Shrestha for the administration and accounting work and by the particular staff in the different projects. Rajan is constantly in contact with the Swiss projects coordinator, Silvia Lafranchi Pittet, who personally verifies the projects’ progresses through regular visits, and with the specific Swiss consultants, involved case by case according to the needs.

Kam For Sud non è un’associazione di “aiuto ai poveri”, ma un gruppo di amici nepalesi e svizzeri che si impegna insieme per un mondo migliore, un’associazione che in modo gioioso, ma serio e professionale, lavora per aumentare la “felicità interna lorda” del pianeta.
…diventano una filosofia di lavoro
Avendo osservato attorno a noi il fallimento a medio termine di molte iniziative nate dalle migliori intenzioni, ma non sufficientemente ancorate nelle realtà locali, ci siamo persuasi del fatto che per andare a buon fine un progetto di cooperazione debba essere fondato sul rispetto tra le persone coinvolte. Il che significa pari dignità, pari valore, esperienze diverse alle spalle ma la stessa considerazione per tutti e lo stesso, appassionato, coinvolgimento da parte di tutti. Nessun senso di superiorità, nemmeno ben camuffato, da parte di chi porta risorse finanziarie o tecnologie all’avanguardia; nessun senso di dipendenza o inferiorità da parte di chi è materialmente più povero. Anche perché è evidente che non è la povertà materiale a rendere la gente più infelice…
Un contatto quotidiano tra due paesi
A garanzia del buon funzionamento dei progetti, Rajan Shrestha, coordinatore locale, è impegnato a tempo pieno in Nepal, affiancato da Saroj Shrestha nel lavoro amministrativo-contabile e da collaboratori specifici nei singoli progetti. Rajan è costantemente in contatto con la coordinatrice responsabile in Svizzera, Silvia Lafranchi Pittet, che verifica di persona l’andamento dei progetti con visite regolari, e con i diversi consulenti in Svizzera che sono coinvolti a seconda delle questioni che man mano si presentano.
I nostri soci e i Kam For Sud Bazaar & Boutique sono il motore che ci permette di lavorare
Due pilastri rappresentano l’indispensabile motore che permette a Kam For Sud di funzionare: il prezioso contributo annuale dei soci e i Kam For Sud Bazaar e Boutique di Locarno e Lugano, gestiti da Luisa Soldati con Petra Tomasini, Antonella Bonzanigo e i rispettivi gruppi di volontarie. Insieme generano le entrate che ci servono per coprire le spese di gestione dell’associazione, permettendoci di destinare la totalità delle donazioni ai progetti in Nepal.
Due comitati fratelli
Dal 2008 Kam For Sud è registrata anche come ONG nepalese. Il comitato locale, composto da 7 professionisti attivi in diversi settori (educazione, gestione finanziaria, cooperazione bilaterale in campo tecnico e sociale) accompagna il personale operativo nepalese, verificando il buon andamento dei progetti. In Svizzera un analogo comitato esecutivo composto da 3 professionisti provenienti dai settori medico, economico e della comunicazione, si riunisce regolarmente per seguire e pianificare le attività. Tutte le decisioni strategiche importanti sono prese dai due comitati di comune accordo.
L’assemblea annuale
Il bilancio e il conto economico, l’andamento dei progetti in corso e le attività pianificate sono presentati e discussi durante le assemblee annuali alle quali partecipano i membri dell’associazione.

Civilisti e volontari a tempo determinato
Puntualmente alcuni volontari o civilisti vengono selezionati e coinvolti nei singoli programmi, in Nepal o in Svizzera, per periodi limitati.
Our members and the Kam For Sud Bazaar & Boutique are the engine allowing us to work
Two pillars represent the essential engine that allows Kam For Sud to function: the precious annual contribution of the members and the Kam For Sud Bazaar and Boutique in Locarno and Lugano, directed by Luisa Soldati with Petra Tomasini, Antonella Bonzanigo and their respective volunteers-team. Jointly they generate the money that we need to cover the management and administrative costs of the NGO, thus allowing us to allocate the totality of the donations for the projects in Nepal.
Two partner committees
From 2008 Kam For Sud is registered also as Nepalese NGO. The local committee, composed by 7 professionals from differents fields (education, financial management, bilateral cooperation in the technic and social sectors) accompanies the operative staff, ensuring the projects’ proper development. In Switzerland, a similar executive committee composed by 3 professionals from the medical, economical and communication fields, meets regularly to follow up and plan the activities. All importand strategic decisions are taken by both committees in mututal agreement.
The annual assembly
The balance reports, the accounts, the projects evolution and the planned activites are presented and discussed during the annual assemblies in which the association’s members take part.

Civilists and volunteers
Occasionally, volunteers or civilists are selected to participate in particular projects, in Switzerland or in Nepal, for limited periods.
